Privacy policy

This policy applies to the website fuelsketch.com and the web app Fuel Sketch (fuel-sketch.pages.dev). It follows the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP). The German version is authoritative.

In short

Fuel Sketch needs no account and shows no ads. Routes, markers and your home base stay on your device. Data that is synced or shared between devices is end-to-end encrypted: the server only sees encrypted data.

Website fuelsketch.com

The website is served by Cloudflare Pages (Cloudflare, Inc., USA). When you visit, Cloudflare processes technically necessary data such as IP address, time and page requested in order to deliver the site and protect it against abuse. The website sets no cookies, uses no analytics or tracking services and loads no third-party content (fonts and images are self-hosted). Only your language choice is stored locally in your browser.

On your device

Aircraft, settings, home base, routes, markers and your own map layers are stored in your browser or home-screen app. They do not leave the device unless you use one of the features below. The camera is only used to scan a QR code; the image is processed on the device and not transmitted.

Map providers

The map loads tiles directly from the provider you select: OpenStreetMap, OpenTopoMap, Esri (World Imagery) or swisstopo (Swiss Federal Office of Topography). The provider receives your IP address and the map area displayed. Their privacy policies apply.

Fuel Sketch server

For the features below the app uses a server at Cloudflare (Cloudflare Workers and D1, Cloudflare, Inc., USA). Data may be processed outside Switzerland.

• Sync between devices (optional): aircraft and settings are encrypted on the device with your sync code. Only an ID derived from it and the encrypted data are stored. The home base is not synced.
• Share links (optional): time-limited links are encrypted on the device; the key exists only in the link itself. The encrypted data and expiry date are stored and deleted after expiry or import.
• Company (optional, with a company code): company data and company layers are encrypted with the company code. Devices that join register with a random device ID; device name, type and app version are encrypted and readable only by company admins. Status, join time and last contact are stored in plain text.
• Feedback (optional): text, category, language, app version and – if you provide it – your contact details. A short-lived, truncated hash of the IP address is used against abuse. The feedback text (without contact details) is copied to a private GitHub repository for follow-up (GitHub, Inc., USA).
• Anonymous usage statistics: at most once per day and device, the app reports counters (active yes/no, number of routes, exports and links, platform, language, app version). There is no device ID, no position and no route data; the IP address is not stored (only a short-lived hash for rate limiting). You can switch the statistics off in the app under Settings → General.

Export and external links

When you export a route (e.g. to ForeFlight, as GPX, KML or Garmin FPL), it only goes to the app or location you choose. The “Buy me a coffee” link leads to buymeacoffee.com, whose terms apply.

Retention

Synced and company data are kept as long as they are used. Shared links are deleted after expiry. Feedback is kept as long as it is useful for further development and deleted on request. Statistics consist only of summed daily counters.

Your rights

Fuel Sketch doesn’t know who you are: no account, no name, no positions. Whatever is on the server is either encrypted (sync, links, company – only you or your company hold the key) or anonymous (statistics). Readable information about you only exists if you send feedback with contact details or write to us.

You can view, correct or delete that information at any time: [email protected]. Everything on your device you delete yourself by removing the website data in your browser or the home-screen app.

This policy may be updated as Fuel Sketch evolves. The version published here applies.
